Our Interview with Joseph at Sequoia Resort & RV Park

I want everyone that comes up here to have a great experience.
— Joseph Payne

What are some unique features of the Sequoia Resort & RV park? (In other words, why should people choose your RV park?)

Well, the feedback I hear the most coming from practically everyone that stays here is how beautiful, quiet, and peaceful it is here. It is not like other RV parks where you are packed in like sardines. Each space has its own spaciousness and most spaces have the privacy wall in-between sites. The property is also about 377 acres which means there are quite a few miles of trails for walking or hiking and we plan to add more. Free laundry and free amenities such as games and our lake are what tends to separate us from other parks as well. At night with clear skies, you can see TONS of stars since we are away from the cities.

Can you share a funny / touching story about one of your campers/guests?

I have quite a few stories. The one that just recently happened though was a family ended up getting their truck stuck in the mud about 10 minutes up the road. Triple A would not come for them so I was able to get one of the friendly locals to help me dig and tow their truck out to get it unstuck. They were overwhelmingly grateful as they would have been waiting hours for help and/or could have been charged a good amount of money for the service. When I get the opportunity to help anyone with whatever I can I always take it since it's just the right thing to do. Not to mention I want everyone that comes up here to have a great experience… so if something comes up that I can do for someone I am always more than willing to.

You mentioned earlier that you found your "forever home" here... why is that?

I love the seclusion, the beauty of the area, being closer to nature, and being able to share that with everyone that comes up to visit. This is my forever home because this is what gives me a sense of purpose and fulfillment. I believe you have to pursue what makes you happy or think will make you happy. No matter if you fail. Ever since moving up here I have realized that being able to live and work here is what truly makes me happy. Then the added benefit is I get to share it with other people that come here and get to realize how beautiful it is here.

Any advice for people who are on the fence about camper van / RV travel?

Not really other than be sure to do your research. Find a camper/travel trailer that will fit your needs and think carefully about what you intend to do with it and where you plan to go with it. Camper Vans, RVs, and travel trailers can be an amazing experience and the ability to have everything you need wherever you go (depending on your set-up) is really enticing and can be a wonderful life experience.
